For the author's first book, this was an interesting read. There are some grammatical / spelling errors, but not enough to be overwhelming or distract from the story.Alys and her friends are orphans with no recollections of their pasts, but with unique gifts. Something that has always set them apart from others, and treated like freaks by the popular crowd. Not that anyone really knew what they were capable of, just that they were different. When Alys starts to have visions, she isn't sure if they are memories of the past, glimpses of the future, or just tricks her mind is playing on her. Some are visions of a woman that looks like her, her mother perhaps? Some are of an older version of Michael, one of her best friends, and maybe someone who will become something more...until one faithful night when she learns that demons are real, and that she may just need to look into her past to learn why she and her friends are so special.
There were some interesting twists to the story. Who Rye and Xzavier really are, what Michael's purpose is, and hints to Alys past to name a few. And of course, we're left with a cliffhanger. We still don't know much about Alys' parents, including where they are. We didn't really learn why Alys is being hunted or what she is meant to do. And what is Xzavier to her? I guess we'll need to wait for the next book to find out.
If you're a fan of YA, paranormal books and are looking for something to read, this is a good one to try. There is some violence, but no sexual content which means teens under 17 can read this.
